Arambol beach is one of the most famous northern beaches of Goa & 27 km from Mapusa and 39 km from Panaji. Arambol lies between Mandrem beach to the South & Kalacha beach to the north & the beach has a long sandy stretch with soft white sands. This cove-like beach is a traditional fisherman's village with a distinctly bohemian feel, which attracts many international tourists and alternative travelers. Fine dining is not the way here, but simple beach shacks and restaurants serve some of Goa's favorite food.

The Se Cathedral de Santa Catarina is also known as Se Cathedral and is one of the most ancient and celebrated religious buildings of Goa. It is the largest Catholic Church in Asia. It is dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria. UNESCO has declared it a heritage site. To reach here opt for a car or a taxi which will take up the National Highway 4A that connects Ribander Causeway with Ponda. You can also come here from from Panaji which is just 9 kms away from Old Goa. The history of the cathedral can be traced back to the era of Dominicans, who were were the first missionary group sent by the Portuguese to India and were brought by Alfonso de Albuquerque, the Portugal naval general. Always known for its unique architecture, it was designed by the stalwart engineers so as to represent power, fame and wealth of the colonial Portuguese.Constructed in Portuguese-Manueline architectural style with exteriors in Tuscan style, while the interiors are Corinthian style. The tower of the cathedral is known to house a large bell, called the ‘Golden Bell’, on account of its rich tone. This bell is said to be the largest in Goa and one of the best in the world.

The church was built in 1661 by the Portuguese Viceroyalty of India. It is a roman catholic church situated in the main square of old Goa. The St. Cajetan Church is undisputedly the most beautiful-looking church Goa has ever housed. Everything from its pristine white appearance to the two rectangular towers on either side above the façade reminds us of its European architectural origins. It was built during the year 1544-1547 on the Holy Hill to fulfill the vow taken by Alfonso de Albuquerque. It has a two-storied portico plastered with lime mortar. It is not very far from the Basilica of the Bon Jesus. It is architecturally very well developed and worth a visit. It’s also thought to be here that St Francis Xavier gave his first sermon upon his arrival in Old Goa.

Arguably one of the largest churches of its time, St. Augustine Church today is in partial ruins, no thanks to the religious bans imposed by an ever-so-fragile Portuguese social hold back in the 1600s. St. Augustine Church today is no more than a 46-meter tall tower situated in old Goa on a Holy Hill. Even though the monument is almost in shambles, still its beauty can be well experienced.

Established in 1597 by Viceroy Francisco da Gama, the Viceroy’s Arch, made of laterite & green granite, was once the main street for entering Old Goa. The arch was built to commemorate the memory of the famous explorer -Vasco da Gama & is near St. Cajetan Church. On the side facing the Mandovi River is a small statue of Vasco da Gama, fully attired in his royal uniform, on top of the arch. On the side facing the city is a sculpture of a European woman wielding a sword.

The church of Reis Magos, constructed in 1555, is dedicated to St. Jerome. Historians have evidence that the church stands on the ruins of an old Hindu temple. The Church interiors are colorful and impressive, & the highlight is the multi-colored wood relief showing the Three Wise Men bearing gifts to the baby Jesus, which is the centerpiece of the elaborately carved and painted reredos behind the high altar.

One of Goa's best creations is the Mae De Deus Church in Saligao, Bardez. Its illuminated view in the evenings and nights has a paradisical charm. That is the best time to view this exquisite piece of Gothic architecture in Goa. Situated at Daujim, a tiny suburb of Old Goa in the 16th century, of which today only the tallest cross on a pedestal is seen amongst shrubs and coconut groves. This breathtaking sight is visible even as you drive on Chogum Road from Panjim to Calangute. It is the finest example of Neo-Gothic architecture in Goa.

St. Alex Church, Calangute, Goa is called ‘Santo Aleixo Igreja em Calangute, Goa’ in Portuguese & is one of the oldest surviving churches in Goa. The St. Alex Church looks glorious during Christmas when the youngsters from the village prepare a floating crib in the lake.

The St. Anne Church at Talaulim, founded in 1577, is renowned for its magnificent architecture & was reconstructed by its Vicar, Monsignor Francisco de Rego, between 1681-1689 with his funds and contributions of villagers. Charmingly tucked away, the Church of St. Anne lies nestled in the lush greenery of Santana in Talaulim village. Known locally as Santana, the church is among the few Indian churches known for its Indian Baroque style of architecture.

Near the Raia village, this seminary is easily accessible by road, just before the hill. From there, a short hike will take you up to the seminary. Surrounded by the ruins of a Muslim fort and beautiful golden rice fields, this is one of the first few seminaries in Goa. The complex also houses a church dedicated to St. Ignatius Loyola - the founder of the Jesuit order, which is still well-maintained despite being nearly four centuries old. Situated  5 kilometers from Margao in South Goa, this majestic seminary is a center of learning philosophy and theology.

The Shirgao Jatra is famous among devotees and tourists alike for the celebrated walk on hot coals raked from an enormous bonfire. The Shiva (Mahadev) temple of Tambdi Surla, situated about 18 km from the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary gate, is the only surviving structure of the Kadamba Yadava dynasty. It is the oldest temple of Goa, which survived by the Portuguese as it was set next to a stream in the middle of the small clearing, hidden in the dense jungle. The Tambdi Surla temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, has a pillared porch & three stepped entrances.

Situated in Sal, this beautiful temple can be reached by either bus or cab. Elegantly located at Sal which is about 25 Kms. from Mapusa, Shri Mahadeva Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahadev, who is said to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple has a beautiful natural landscape which adds a unique charm to the entire experience. It is mainly famous for its three-day Gade festival which is celebrated with much ardour and fervour in entire Goa.  Held during the months of February/March every year, the festival evokes spiritual vibe among thousands of devotees who believe that they can have a darshan of Devchars.

The temple of Mahalsa Narayani is in the small village of Mardol, just about a kilometer from the famous Mangueshi temple and about 22 km from Panaji, the capital city. Sri Mahalsa temple is the main temple dedicated to Mahalasa Narayani. The main festival celebrated here is the annual fair of the temple, held in February.

Shri Mahalaxmi temple is situated at Bandora which is 4 kms from Ponda. Shri Mahalaxmi is the presiding deity and it is considered the abode of the original Goddess of the Shakti cult. The Sabhamandap has a gallery of 18 images, out of 24 images of emanatory aspects of Bhagvata sect, which is considered one of the few galleries of wooden images of Vishnu in India. Hindus built here a temple called "Mahalaxmi" as she is referred to as Goddess of peace. Hindus describes Mahalaxmi is a form of Mother of all Universes, who raised three super powers Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. The temple has a small arched entrance at the one end with naubat khana placed on the up and further to this is a village. Two sides are kept open, in a miscellany of separate shrine parivar devatas are place displaying in the courtyard, with a simple plastered covering in a red colour. On the entrance of this main building there is a domed octagonal temple tower place with very rare two domes having the look of flattened which is something attractive, the main towers truncated dome is kept higher with huge lantern. This floor has new hall designed for dance and musical activities keeping in mind with festivals. Every side of mandapas entrance is designed with the arts of Hanuman who is known God of Monkey and Garoda Vishnu’s vehicle, half eagle half man and the doors are magnificently carved in wood placed with Ganesh on them. The image of Mahalakshmi has a close resemblance to that of Mahalakshmi at Kolhapur, the main centre of worship. Her special feature is that she wears a linga on her head and is considered a peaceful or Satvik form of the Devi.

Shri Mallikarjuna Temple is one of the most famous Hindu temples in  South Goa. This temple is dedicated to Mallikarjun God, who was, according to legends and beliefs, a reincarnation of Shiva. The Shri Mallikarjuna Temple is near the village of Sristhal, just 3 km southeast of the Chaudi municipal center. The Shri Mallikarjuna Temple is in a beautiful green valley surrounded by hills.

This ancient historical temple is dedicated to Goddess, Shri Morjai who is known to be one of the seven sisters who came and resided in different parts of Goa along with their brother, Shri Khetoba.  The Morjai temple at Morjim possesses an elegant look as the temple walls are decorated with rare and extinct 'Kaavi' art friezes. The exterior 'Sabhamandap' has rectangular columns supporting a balcony above. The main festival celebrated at the Shri Morjai temple is 'Kalas Utsav' which is celebrated once in every three, five, seven or nine years and which lasts for nearly a month.

The Naguesh Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located in Bandora, 4 km east of Ponda. The assembly hall of the temple has pillars with intricate woodcarvings. It is known to have been renovated by the grandson of Shivaji, King Shahu. At the entrance, one can see an image of Nandi the bull, carved in black stone. Niched on the lower half of the tower are brightly painted deities.

One can notice about 40-50 Crocodiles within the length and breadth of the Cumbarjua Canal in Goa.

Towards mainland Goa near Sanquelim, the Arvalem caves are easily accessible by road. You can hire bikes from Bicholim Town to cover the 9 km stretches to these caves. Dating back to the 5th to 6th centuries these caves are locally known as the Pandava Caves. Legend holds that the Pandavas, from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, stayed in these caves while in exile.

Dudhsagar Waterfall is inside the Bhagwan Mahavir wildlife sanctuary in the Sanguem district of Goa, close to the border with Karnataka. It is about 60 km from the state capital Panaji.

Kesarval Spring is 22 km from Panaji & one can reach the site of this beautiful spring by crossing the bridge over the Zuari River and passing through Cortalim village. Amidst this pure and untouched nature, in the middle of swaying beetle nut palm, Kesarval spring erupts. Kesarval Spring has become a natural spa. But what is lacking in appearance is pretty much made up by the supposed curative nature of the spring water.
